What is included into a standard interferometer kit?
A standard interferometer kit includes one interferometer of a chosen model, a USB cable, a power adapter, one case for device transportation and one flat standard for device verification. It also includes MaxInspect™ software and a license.
How long is warranty period of Sumix interferometers?
The warranty period is one year.
What are system requirements for MaxInspect™ software?
System requirements for MaxInspect™ software are as follows:
Operating system: Windows 11, Windows 10
For exporting measurement results: Microsoft™ Excel® 2010 and higher
Processor Minimum: Intel Core 2 Duo. Recommended: Intel Core i7 or higher
Performance: Minimum 400 Mflops. Recommended: 500 Mflops or higher
Memory Minimum: 2000 MB. Recommended: 4000 MB
USB 3.0 Intel integrated controller
Video: 8 MB memory. Recommended: GeForce 4xxx/Radeon 9xxx or higher
Is MaxInspect™ license universal for all interferometer models?
We issue a license for each particular device. If you buy a new interferometer device, you will need to use a license that comes with that device.
MaxInspect™ software does not work because no license is found. What do I need to do?
You need to install license provided together with the device. Please open MaxInspect™ software and install license file as described in Getting Started section of MaxInspect™ User Guide.
Where can I find MaxInspect™ User Guide? Is it only in English or are translations to other languages also available?
You can find MaxInspect™ User Guide in PDF format in English and Chinese in MaxInspect™ installation folder. Its location is C:\Program Files\Sumix\MaxInspect\Docs by default. You can also launch it from Help and Support section in MaxInspect™ interface or by clicking on the question mark in top right corner of interface page. Japanese translation of the User Guide is soon to follow.
How can I connect interferometer to my PC?
Please first connect a power supply supplied with your interferometer to the device power socket marked DC 12V. Then connect a USB 3.0 cable to the device USB 3.0 socket marked SS and plug it in a USB 3.0 port on your PC. We recommend to warm up the device for 30 minutes before measurements.
Do I need to do any verification before initial use of interferometer?
We recommend device verification after transportation. Verification is performed by means of the optical flat standard supplied together with interferometer. The procedure is quick and simple, and is described in the User Guide.
Why do I need fixtures for measuring fiber optic connectors?
You need fixtures for precise positioning of fiber optic connectors close to the interferometer objective. Learn more about fixture type and purpose from interferometer accessories page.
Do I need to calibrate fixtures?
MAX fixtures generally do not require calibration (except for special Side+Front View fixtures and custom ones). Verification and calibration can be necessary after long or intensive period of use or in case of a mechanical damage. Sumix offers reference connectors for verification and calibration of fixtures, contact for pricing.
Is a barcode scanner supported by the software?
Yes, you can use a barcode scanner for entering connector ID numbers to the software in interferometric and anomalies detection measurements. MaxInspect™ supports keyboard wedge, RS232 and USB barcode reader types. With RS232/USB scanner, the data gets to the Connector ID field automatically.
More details you can find in MaxInspect™ User Guide (Chapter 8.6 Barcode Support).
Why do I see only part of connector end-face – only 4 fibers instead of 12?
You may try increasing field of view by setting bigger viewport size. Auto Tune Image button adjusts the viewport size automatically. If this does not help, please try changing the way your fixture is mounted on the mount plate. The letters UP engraved on the fixture should be in the uppermost position.
Why are there so many measurement tasks in MaxInspect™? How do I know which task to use?
Each task in MaxInspect™ corresponds to certain type of fiber optic connectors. For example, use 2.5 APC task for inspecting SC, FC and ST APC single fiber connectors with angled polished ferrule end-face. You can find more information on the task in the User Guide.
I would like to measure 4-fiber, 8-fiber and 16-fiber MT connectors. Is this possible in MaxInspect™?
This is possible by modifying the preconfigured MT12 task. We can provide detailed instructions upon request.
On which standards do you base calculation parameters and Pass/Fail criteria in MaxInspect™?
Calculation parameters and Pass/Fail criteria in MaxInspect™ we base on EN and IEC standards. We can provide a detailed reference upon request. MaxInspect™ allows you to define your own standards.
I need to print out measurement results. Is there an easy way to do it in MaxInspect™?
You can easily print measurement results using reports in MaxInspect™. You can save results in PDF, Excel or HTML formats and store them for future reference. Or you can print them out right away after measurement.
I need to keep measurement results. How can I protect them from occasional deletion or data corruption?
MaxInspect™ allows you to back up your measurement results as frequently as you need. Another way to protect your measurement database is to choose a different computer drive during installation instead of default drive C.
How can I increase measurement speed in MaxInspect™?
Please use recommended system configuration for MaxInspect™. Also, please use Auto Tune Image function instead of manual exposure and HalfManual scan mode instead of AutoScanRange. You can try using the highest camera frequency your computer allows – 48, 64 or 96 MHz instead of default 24 MHz.
I noticed that a foot switch is available for making measurements in MaxInspect™. How does it work?
You can connect the foot switch to your PC and push it for making measurements instead of pushing Measure button in MaxInspect™. This saves your time and allows you to disengage your hands. You can order the foot switch from Sumix store.
